The Blogging Begins

So the first thing to do when living in a sustainability house would be to begin a blog, so we have the first step completed.
Our Community
Our community has a very relaxed standard of living and has communal food rules and cooking, and each member has a different night that they specifically have to cook for the rest of the house members. The food has to be vegetarian because of the vegetarian members of the community. There is a shopping list on the fridge for both food and other things needed around the house. House meetings are held once a week, where money is collected, each member puts in the same amount of money which then goes to pay for groceries and other things. House meetings have a segment for things to work on, where each person has a task to work on and secondly grievance are aired so that everyone can openly talk about what is bothering them and so that the relationships in the community are good.
Housing Improvements
We have made many upgrades to our house in the attempt to create an environment that is more suitable for reduction of electricity and water usage as well as creating a healthier environment.
Small adjustments:
A timer in the shower - So that we can track our weekly water usage. Which is accumulated until the end of the year to see our house and personal usage for the year.

A drying rack in the bathroom - To dry clothes without electrical aid.

A Storage rack - To make room for the food stores that we build up and accumulate during the better growing seasons.

A vermicomposting system - This is a composting system that uses red worms to degrade vegetable material that is not acidic. A simple plastic storage bin with holes in it that is raised a few inches inside of a larger bin. Newspaper is used to create levels so that air can get in the middle of the compost and aids in decomposition. No sauces or food with additives can be placed in the composter.

Spores have been purchased and indoor sporulation is planned to start once the correct growing materials are purchased and ready.
